We consulted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right home. They considered the capacity of storage and layout and energy efficiency as well as other aspects.
GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
Like the name suggests, the GE Profile series is targeted at those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect better.
This refrigerator is a good choice, despite the blip. It features a large freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also holds plenty of frozen food items compared to other models.
The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is roughly on the same as the size of a French door fridge costing this much. It also has a decent-sized icemaker that is tucked away in the left door, though it's not the biggest I've seen.
You can alter the shelving in both compartments to create a customized storage arrangement for whatever you have to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting adds a nice accent. The bins for storage inside include a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers come with temperature controls, so you can set them to Beverage, Meat or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little hard on the fingers.
The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere in the globe. It also offers a lot of customization options. It also gives you notifications when doors are left open, when the fridge or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.
It would be nice to have GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is a feature available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allows users to select the number of cups they would like to pour out. It also has an indicator on the display of the fridge to display how much water you have left, but it's not as useful as Precise fill.
Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. This refrigerator was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0° Fahrenheit and never fluctuated more than a fraction - this is crucial to avoid freezer burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, reaching the temperature that was set for the initial setting within an hour and maintaining that temperature steady over the course of our tests.
Bosch is a household name for its top-quality appliances. It's therefore no surprise that the Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. This app allows you to control and monitor your refrigerator remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is costly, but offers great features and functionality at a reasonable cost.
While the fridge is a fantastic piece of equipment but it's important to be aware of the limitations. It has a limited space for shelves, so you may require some creativity when it comes to storing large items. The shelves are also not spillproof and can easily be damaged or stained by sharp objects. It is easy to take out the trays in the fridge however, you must clean them regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage space into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door as well as two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to make space for tall items. There's also a full-width drawer to store deli items and an internal water dispenser.
One of the best features of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it easy to transfer ice into the fridge to use as required. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, for instance, sliding drawers that help better organize the placement of your items. It comes with a large bin to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

The other issue we have with the doors of this refrigerator. They have sunken handles at the front, which allows smaller people to pull them open from the bottom, but they're difficult for taller people to guide closed without slamming the doors. It would have been more effective if these had front-mounted handles.
The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those who want to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with an efficient design. It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and is able to cool evenly. It's also a bit less than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it a desirable choice.
Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't break the bank this Frigidaire is a good choice. It has a simple design that's not as striking in appearance as some of the competition but it does have enough features to make it a good pick. Its most important feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge ice maker and a water dispenser.
Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. The drawer lets you redirect some of the refrigerator's cooling power to the area so that you can keep food items which need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I have found that the general settings are more effective than the specific ones.
In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary much from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. That's a good performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings.
This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with an intelligent thermometer to get more precise measurements of the internal temperature of your fridge.
The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of grey-bodied stainless steel with a "smudge-proof" finish. It is capable of removing streaks and fingerprints even when compared to the shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
